The Zaragoza City Council, in collaboration with three hospitality associations, has launched a prepaid voucher website to encourage citizens to support local restaurants and bars, helping the sector recover from the Covid-19 crisis.
The goal of www.preserbarzgz.com is to motivate residents and visitors to rediscover and enjoy Zaragoza’s vibrant dining scene.
A Campaign to Strengthen Zaragoza’s Culinary Identity
Zaragoza, Tuesday, June 2, 2020 – The #PreserBarZgz campaign aims to actively boost all bars and restaurants in the city, recognizing them as a key part of Zaragoza’s tourism and leisure scene. The initiative also seeks to reinforce Zaragoza’s reputation as a top-tier gastronomic destination, according to Deputy Mayor and Councilor for Culture and External Promotion, Sara Fernández.
At the core of the campaign is a newly created website, www.preserbarzgz.com, designed to be visually engaging and user-friendly. The site explains the campaign’s philosophy and operation, allowing users to download prepaid vouchers of €10, €20, €30, €40, or €50, which they can later redeem at their chosen establishments.
This initiative, developed in partnership with Horeca, the Association of Cafés and Bars, and El Tubo, is built around the message:
“The bars are back. Help us bring them back to life.”
The campaign aims to inspire both locals and tourists to return to Zaragoza’s restaurants and bars, revitalizing the city’s rich gastronomic heritage. Importantly, all participating establishments have implemented strict hygiene and health protocols to ensure a safe and trustworthy environment.
Public-Private Collaboration for Post-Pandemic Recovery
Sara Fernández emphasized the importance of strengthening public-private cooperation, given the severe impact of the Covid-19 crisis on the hospitality sector.
“To actively support this industry, Zaragoza Turismo has launched the #PreserBarZgz project,” Fernández stated.
Restaurants, bars, and cafés interested in joining the campaign can contact the relevant associations, whether they are already members or not.
With #PreserBarZgz, Zaragoza Turismo and the collaborating hospitality associations have come together to turn a challenging situation into an opportunity—one that fosters partnerships and provides essential support to a sector crucial to Zaragoza’s economy, now in greater need than ever.
