This year, the city of Pamplona<\/strong> regains its status as a member of the Saborea Espa\u00f1a<\/strong> Product Club, the national brand for gastronomic tourism. Today, Ana Elizalde<\/strong>, Deputy Councilor for Strategic Government, Commerce, and Tourism of the Pamplona City Council, and Lluis Pujol<\/strong>, General Manager of Saborea Espa\u00f1a, signed the city\u2019s re-entry into this initiative. Pamplona was previously a member between 2012 and 2016 and now returns following a mandate from the City Council, which approved its reapplication to Saborea Espa\u00f1a<\/strong> on December 12.<\/p>\n

With this move, Pamplona joins a network of Spanish municipalities<\/strong> committed to boosting tourism and gastronomy through this national platform, with an international projection<\/strong>. The Saborea Espa\u00f1a<\/strong> Product Club currently includes 22 Spanish destinations<\/strong>, from A Coru\u00f1a to Vinar\u00f2s, Madrid to La Palma<\/strong>. The most recent additions, in January, were Le\u00f3n and Oviedo<\/strong>. In Navarra<\/strong>, apart from Pamplona, Tudela<\/strong> was already a part of this initiative, which aims to attract tourists through gastronomic experiences<\/strong>\u2014a different way to present the city and break seasonality<\/strong>, offering a variety of food-related activities<\/strong> throughout the year and positioning itself as a high-quality destination<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

What is Saborea Espa\u00f1a?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Saborea Espa\u00f1a was created through a partnership between:<\/p>\n

  • Hosteler\u00eda de Espa\u00f1a<\/strong><\/li>\n
  • Federation of Spanish Chefs and Confectioners\u2019 Associations (FACYRE)<\/strong><\/li>\n
  • European Organization of Chefs (Euro-Toques)<\/strong><\/li>\n
  • Spanish Association of Destinations for Gastronomic Tourism Promotion<\/strong><\/li>\n
  • Paradores de Turismo<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    It also has institutional support from Turespa\u00f1a<\/strong>, the public body responsible for Spain\u2019s international tourism marketing, under the Ministry of Industry, Commerce, and Tourism<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

    Being part of this project allows municipalities to work together<\/strong>, share best practices, and benefit from the commercial exposure<\/strong> of a well-recognized global brand. The “Saborea Espa\u00f1a”<\/strong> brand is now a national and international reference<\/strong>, helping local products and gastronomic offerings<\/strong> gain visibility through tourism experiences<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

    Towards Sustainable Gastronomic Tourism<\/strong><\/h3>\n

    One of Saborea Espa\u00f1a’s<\/strong> main goals for 2024 is to strengthen brand recognition<\/strong> across its destinations. In Pamplona, for example, this will be done under the Saborea Pamplona<\/strong> name (Tasting Pamplona<\/strong> in English), similar to other cities that personalize the branding.<\/p>\n

    Additionally, another key focus of the initiative is sustainable tourism development<\/strong>, ensuring that each destination promotes:<\/p>\n

      For 2024<\/strong>, expanding Saborea Espa\u00f1a’s Gastronomic Routes<\/strong> will be a top priority. The goal is to increase the number of routes per destination<\/strong> and include more cities, with a focus on authenticity<\/strong>. The “Saborea Espa\u00f1a Routes”<\/strong> will be widely promoted through national campaigns, brochures, and marketing materials<\/strong>, aiming to raise awareness and showcase major gastronomic events<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

      Additionally, another key activity is World Tapas Day<\/strong>, scheduled for June 18, 2024<\/strong>, which Pamplona will actively participate in. These initiatives will be complemented by international promotional efforts<\/strong> in countries such as Germany, the United Kingdom, France, and Portugal<\/strong>, bringing greater visibility<\/strong> to Pamplona following its re-entry into the network.<\/p>\n

      Innovative Promotion: LOLA, the First AI for Flavor Preferences<\/strong><\/h3>\n

      One of the standout projects in the 2024 marketing strategy<\/strong> is the introduction of LOLA<\/strong>, the first Artificial Intelligence focused on taste and flavor preferences<\/strong>. Unveiled at Madrid Fusi\u00f3n in Saborea Espa\u00f1a\u2019s stand, LOLA is still in a prototype phase<\/strong>, but its goal is to provide personalized food recommendations<\/strong> based on users’ preferences.<\/p>\n

      Currently, LOLA is gathering data<\/strong> through interviews, allowing it to analyze taste profiles<\/strong> and offer tailored gastronomic suggestions. This initiative showcases how new technology can be applied<\/strong> to promote gastronomic tourism<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
