The Saborea Lanzarote Food and Wine Festival Concludes Its 11th Edition, Surpassing All Expectations

This international event celebrating gastronomy and high-quality local products has recorded the largest audience turnout in its history. Despite this, visitor experience has significantly improved, thanks to the expansion and redesign of event spaces, allowing attendees to explore all areas comfortably and without overcrowding.

A Resounding Success for the 11th Edition

The 11th edition of the Saborea Lanzarote Food and Wine Festival concluded this Sunday, leaving organizers and visitors highly satisfied. Over two days, the event saw the largest attendance in its history. However, thanks to the increased venue space and improved layout, visitors enjoyed a more comfortable experience, easily exploring all sections without congestion.

According to Oswaldo Betancort, President of the Lanzarote Cabildo,
“Once again, this international event proves to be a major attraction, not only for residents but also for the thousands of tourists who visit us.”

Betancort also emphasized that this festival aligns with Lanzarote’s tourism strategy, which prioritizes quality over quantity. He highlighted that the average visitor spending has significantly increased, underscoring the festival’s economic impact.

Similarly, Ángel Vázquez, Councilor for the Centers of Art, Culture, and Tourism, expressed his gratitude for the public’s overwhelming support, emphasizing the creativity and innovation displayed by chefs at this year’s festival.
“The dishes presented truly capture the essence of our unique local ingredients,” said Vázquez.

Meanwhile, Olivia Duque, Mayor of Teguise, expressed her pride in witnessing the historic center of La Villa de Teguise transformed into a vibrant culinary hub.
“Walking through the streets, filled with the aromas and flavors of our land and nearby regions, and seeing people enjoying our culture, is truly special,” Duque stated.


Gastronomy, Innovation, and Local Products

Throughout the two-day festival, Lanzarote became the epicenter of gastronomy, innovation, and sustainability in both regional and national contexts.

Attendees participated in:

  • Wine tastings
  • Workshops
  • Culinary demonstrations
  • Live music concerts

Thousands of visitors reaffirmed their commitment to quality food and local products, discovering Lanzarote and La Graciosa’s finest producers. Among the featured products were:

  • Wines
  • Cheeses
  • Sea salts
  • Preserves and jams
  • Vermouth and gin, among many others

In addition to tastings and workshops, the festival hosted two major competitions:

  1. “Best Burger” CompetitionJimmy Roldán from Forasteros Street Food won, competing against seven other top burger chefs.
  2. Traditional “Ensaladilla” ContestSiro Rivas emerged as the champion among six competitors on Sunday morning.

The strong media presence provided extensive coverage, significantly boosting visibility for local producers, chefs, and the entire food value chain on a regional, national, and international level.


A Sustainable and Inclusive Event

For its 11th edition, the Saborea Lanzarote Food and Wine Festival reinforced its commitment to sustainability through a sustainability mapping initiative developed in collaboration with Taboire Sustainable Solutions.

This analysis measures the environmental, social, and economic impact of the festival, enabling continuous improvements to:

  • Reduce its carbon footprint
  • Optimize resource usage
  • Maximize social benefits

Among the key sustainable initiatives implemented were:

  • Waste management improvements
  • Promotion of local products
  • Use of sustainable materials

Additionally, by supporting local NGOs and promoting proximity-based consumption, Saborea Lanzarote strengthens its role as a driver of inclusive and regenerative development.

Commitment to Social Inclusion and Safety

To ensure an inclusive and safe environment, the festival introduced:

  • “Punto Naranja” (Orange Point) – Focused on ensuring accessibility for diverse audiences
  • “Punto Violeta” (Purple Point) – Dedicated to preventing gender-based violence and harassment

Looking Ahead to 2026

The Saborea Lanzarote Food and Wine Festival will return to La Villa de Teguise in 2026. The event is organized by the Lanzarote Cabildo, the Centers of Art, Culture, and Tourism, and the Teguise City Council.

With unprecedented attendance, enhanced visitor experience, and a strong commitment to sustainability and inclusion, this year’s edition has set a new benchmark for gastronomic festivals in Spain.
