Saborea España Collaborates with Turespaña for the First Time in Israel, Showcasing Spanish Gastronomic Excellence

Saborea Segovia and Saborea Valladolid proudly represented Spanish gastronomy in Tel Aviv as part of the Shalom España 2023 event, organized by Turespaña.

On September 11-12, 2023, the Tourism Office in Rome – Turespaña, responsible for the Israeli market, hosted the Shalom Spain-23 Direct Marketing Workshops. This initiative aimed to present Spanish tourism attractions to the Israeli travel sector, boosting the promotion and commercialization of Spanish tourism products.

Spanish Culinary Excellence Takes Center Stage

On the afternoon of September 11, Saborea España showcased its gastronomic experiences at the prestigious DANON School of Hospitality in Tel Aviv. Two leading Spanish culinary destinations, Saborea Segovia and Saborea Valladolid, were represented by top chefs:

  • Saborea Segovia: Chef Félix Del Barrio from Jeyma Restaurant (Segovia)
  • Saborea Valladolid: Chef Alejandro San José from Habanero Taquería (Valladolid)

The event gathered key Israeli tourism professionals and specialized media, who were treated to an exclusive show cooking led by the two chefs. The menu featured four signature dishes:

  1. Lechazo Asado al Estilo Segoviano (Segovian-style roasted suckling lamb)
  2. Ponche Segoviano (Traditional Segovian sponge cake with marzipan and caramelized sugar)
  3. Mar de Valladolid (A creative dish based on cod)
  4. Pastor (A dish made from suckling lamb)

Each dish was perfectly paired with wines from Bodegas Protos, including Protos Verdejo, Protos Crianza, and Protos 27.

Recognizing the Importance of Spanish Gastronomy

The event was inaugurated by Gonzalo Ceballos, Tourism Advisor at the Rome Tourism Office, who emphasized the importance of Spain’s gastronomic and wine tourism offerings:

“The National Gastronomic Tourism Plan developed in 2022 summarizes our efforts to promote Spanish cuisine, wines, and local products. Our tourism promotion is based on what we produce, how we produce it, and our lifestyle. Our goal is to highlight the exceptional quality of Spanish agri-food products in Israel, as demonstrated by 102 Protected Designations of Origin (PDOs) for food and 97 PDOs for wines.”

The event also featured Mayre Modrego, representative of Saborea España and manager of Euro-Toques España, reinforcing the commitment to strengthening Spanish gastronomy’s international presence.

With this initiative, Saborea España continues expanding its reach, demonstrating that Spain’s culinary excellence transcends borders and positioning the country as a global gastronomic leader.
