Oviedo Launches “The Sweetest Route” of Its Gastronomic Capitality

Attention dessert lovers! Oviedo, the beloved capital of Asturias, is about to make the summer even sweeter with an event designed to delight all palates. Under the name “Oviedo Llambión”, the city’s Department of Tourism has launched an initiative to celebrate and showcase Oviedo’s traditional pastry shops. From July 24 to August 20, visitors and locals alike can embark on a gastronomic journey through the city’s most iconic bakeries, savoring authentic Asturian flavors.


A Tribute to Oviedo’s Sweet Tradition

With over a century of pastry history, Oviedo boasts a rich confectionery heritage that has gained national recognition. This summer, twelve of the city’s finest bakeries will open their doors to offer a unique tasting experience, featuring both classic and innovative creations.

Among the traditional delights, you’ll find moscovitas, carbayones, milhojas Nava, and lollas made with chestnut and hazelnut. Each participating establishment will offer a special selection of pastries, with prices ranging from €3 to €4, ensuring everyone can enjoy these artisanal treats.

Each bakery will present its signature product, either in a limited edition or as a new, exclusive creation that promises to surprise and delight.


Events & Special Activities

The event goes beyond just tasting sweets—it also offers exciting activities to immerse visitors in the world of Asturian pastry-making.

📍 August 6 – A masterclass at the Technical Institute of Pastry and Baking of Asturias (ITEPPA) with Manu Jara, one of Spain’s most renowned pastry chefs. With a background that includes working at the three-Michelin-starred Zalacaín and an international career, Jara will share insights into the art of high pastry-making.

📍 August 9 – A special showcase at the Asturias Trade Fair in Gijón, where attendees can sample Oviedo’s most emblematic sweets while learning about the history and craftsmanship behind them.

Visitors who stop by at least three pastry shops and collect stamps in their “Llambión Passport” will be entered into a raffle to win one of three sweet product baskets. Special decorative urns will be available in each pastry shop for participants to submit their completed passports.
